Italian bike manufacturer Pinarello unveiled its new Bolide F-TR triathlon bike at the latest IRONMAN World Championship in Hawaii. The bike is the ultimate expression of aerodynamic excellence. Designed to meet the demands of elite athletes, it will also appeal to anyone who appreciates seriously good kit. And there are plenty of those in triathlon.

Developed in close collaboration with several world-class triathletes from the Pinarello team, and designed around the demands of their race positions, this bike was created to refine and optimize the triathlete’s position, particularly from an aerodynamic standpoint. The aim is to limit fatigue, improve efficiency and maintain high speed over long distances.

Available to buy from January 2027, the Bolide F-TR was raced to impressive results by several pros at the latest IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, including Italian Gregory Barnaby (fourth), Dutchman Youri Keulen (ninth), Australian Cameron Wurf (12th), and German Jan Stratmann (15th). Gregory Barnaby also set the fastest bike split in Hawaii on this model, clocking 4:11:23.

Cutting-edge carbon construction

The Bolide F-TR uses Torayca carbon-fibre technology, a benchmark in the field. It is available in two triathlon-specific layups, each tailored to a different performance focus. First, AeroMatrix Superlight, a high-end carbon architecture that delivers an optimized stiffness-to-weight ratio on the Bolide F-TR 9 and Bolide F-TR 7. Then there is the AeroMatrix Performance layup, an advanced carbon construction designed to balance stiffness distribution and vibration absorption over long distances. It is used on the Bolide F-TR 5.

Aerodynamic innovation throughout, without sacrificing comfort

Drawing on decades of aerodynamic expertise, the Bolide F-TR incorporates several major technical updates designed to reduce overall drag. These include the Aero Knods fork, which limits turbulence and promotes smoother airflow.

There is also the Aero Knods seat tube, with a ribbed profile inspired by AirStream technology. It improves airflow and reduces the turbulence and drag generated by leg movement while pedaling.

The seatpost system is also designed with aerodynamics in mind. Two options broaden the range of adjustments while providing a lighter, more aerodynamic solution than traditional adjustable systems.

The Forward Position geometry, with a 25 mm longer reach, is designed for a forward position on the bike. It allows athletes to find their ideal setup and optimize aerodynamic efficiency.

The frame offers generous tire clearance, allowing tires up to 30 mm wide. That improves comfort on the road and boosts confidence through corners, even on rough surfaces.

A cockpit with precise, extensive adjustability

The cockpit, made up of the TR Bar and Olympic Extension Bar extensions, comes standard on both the complete bike and frameset. It includes mounts for a bike computer and up to two bottles without compromising the ergonomics of the setup.

The extensions slide continuously forward and backward through a maximum range of 25 mm, allowing for precise positioning. Their tilt and angle can be adjusted from 10° to 30° in defined 5° increments. The armrests can be moved in 11.25 mm increments, across a total range of 67.5 mm between the furthest forward and rearward positions.

Finally, spacers and bottle mounts can provide up to 45 mm of additional height. A further 15 mm can be added with a dedicated aero spacer.
