FUSE Triathlon rewrites the rulebook for triathlon

Last May in Ville d’Avray, around a hundred athletes gave FUSE Triathlon a go: an innovative indoor urban format built on rising intensity. Spotlight on a concept that hits different.

FUSE Triathlon is an indoor urban format built around the Rising Effort principle: intensity ramps up in successive stages in each discipline (pool swim, bike on a smart trainer, run) until the athlete hits their limit. The goal isn’t to cover a fixed distance, but to last as long as possible as the challenge gets tougher. No mandatory distance, no fixed finish line. Stage by stage, the intensity rises until each participant reaches their own breaking point.

Not about chasing a time, but an effort that lets you benchmark your level

It’s also a way to reinvent urban triathlon. An accessible, spectacular, demanding format designed for the city. For triathletes, it’s especially useful in a training block: a benchmark test to objectively measure where you stand across all three disciplines, in a structured setting and without the usual stopwatch pressure.

Logistics are stripped back to the bare minimum (no personal gear required, everything is provided on site) and the whole event happens in a single venue, making it easy to slot into a training plan and easy to share with non-tri friends and family. Ideal for breaking the “first time” barrier, and just as relevant for experienced triathletes looking to test themselves.

The first edition of FUSE Triathon took place in Ville d'Avray on May 3

100 participants set off in waves every 30 minutes, for an average total effort time of 1:08. 55% of the field had never done a triathlon before. The accessible format let everyone perform at their own level, around a shared promise of intensity and pushing the limit.

For the data geeks, here are the best stages reached:

Swim : Stage 26, max pace 1:08/100m, 1,300m covered in total

Bike : Stage 35, 387 watts at the peak stage, 45+ minutes of riding in total

Run : Stage 37, max pace 2:53/km, 5,700m covered in total

The next edition will be held in Versailles on October 25

This edition introduces two categories, Race and Elite, with different stage grids to match participants’ levels. The chosen venue offers an exceptional setting.

2027: Beyond the Paris region

FUSE is preparing to expand into new territories in 2027, with stops planned in PACA and Nouvelle-Aquitaine, two regions with a strong sports and triathlon culture.
