Every spring, Carcans-Maubuisson, between France's largest natural freshwater lake and the Atlantic Ocean, becomes the setting for a major triathlon festival: the Frenchman. Over several days, from the XS format for beginners to the M, L and XXL distances, the Mรฉdoc resort welcomes triathletes of all levels, as well as events for children, in a festive atmosphere where sport and holidays come together. Everything takes place around Lake Maubuisson, whose clear, calm waters host the swimming segment.
The fast, shaded cycling courses stretch along Mรฉdoc's flat, smooth roads, while the running takes place beneath the pines of Bombannes Forest and along the beachfront promenades. The greatest challenge, the XXL, is a full Ironman-distance race: 3.8 km of swimming, 180 km of cycling and a marathon. Fast and accessible, the Frenchman's course profile appeals both to competitors chasing a personal best and to those taking part in their first triathlon.
