113 km
In one of the world’s most prestigious settings, the Ironman 70.3 Versailles offers a triathlon like no other: 1.9 km of swimming, 90 km of cycling and a 21.1 km half-marathon, just outside Paris, beneath the gaze of the Sun King’s château. The first event of its kind in the Île-de-France region, it combines the demands of elite sport with the grandeur of royal heritage.
The race begins in the Grand Canal of the Palace of Versailles, a vast waterway laid out in the 17th century, with the palace façade as its backdrop. It is a truly rare setting for a triathlon swim. The bike course then leaves the royal city and heads into the Chevreuse Valley, following undulating roads through characterful villages and wooded landscapes before returning to Versailles. The run finally unfolds over several laps through the city, passing the King’s Kitchen Garden and the Jeu de Paume Hall, before finishing along the axis of the palace on Avenue de Paris.
Beyond the performance itself, it is the experience that captivates participants. Running in the footsteps of kings, crossing the finish line facing one of Europe’s most famous residences, and reuniting with family in the heart of a city of art and history: Versailles gives every finisher a memory that goes far beyond the clock. Easily accessible by train from Paris, it attracts French triathletes as well as athletes from abroad.
