Hayden Wilde wins a wild IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship
© Pablo Blazquez Dominguez / IRONMANParis 2024 Olympic triathlon silver medallist Hayden Wilde won the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Nice this morning after a frantic race. The New Zealander held off Norway’s Kristian Blummenfelt, who ran an incredible 1:05:12 half marathon to move into second, while defending champion Jelle Geens of Belgium completed the podium. France’s Simon Viain was the top home athlete in 13th.

Italy’s Michele Bortolamedi, with the fastest bike split of the day in 2:17:06, was first into the second transition
There was virtually nothing separating the athletes after the 1,900m swim, with 27 triathletes emerging in a tight pack.
