In the heart of the Loire Valley, the Ironman 70.3 Tours Mรฉtropole takes the opposite approach to mountain courses: here, everything is designed for speed. Between the Loire and the Cher, the city of Tours hosts an intermediate-distance event featuring 1.9 km of swimming, 90 km of cycling and a 21.1 km half-marathon, in a setting where history appears around every bend.
The race begins in the waters of the Cher, before sending triathletes onto a flat, fast bike course through the Touraine countryside. This section, often decisive, is one of the event's key strengths: little elevation, fast roads and ideal conditions for chasing a personal best. The run then takes place over several loops along the city's riverbanks and parks, with a finish that brings athletes back to the heart of Tours.
A qualifying event for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship, it attracts both competitors seeking a strong performance and triathletes discovering the distance. With its heritage, gastronomy and Touraine's gentle way of life, the weekend feels like a getaway, with the added bonus of being close to the famous Loire Valley chรขteaux.
