IRONMAN World Championship: Vincent Luis crowned world champion in the final race of his career, Taylor Knibb wins in Kona
Vincent Luis made history overnight by becoming the first Frenchman to win the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, Hawaii. It was a stunning achievement for the 37-year-old, who was racing on the legendary Kona course for the first time and lining up for the final race of his professional career. A fitting send-off for an athlete who already owns two world titles over the Olympic-distance format. Pierre Le Corre also delivered a first-rate performance on his Hawaii debut, taking fifth. In the women’s race, American Taylor Knibb claimed her first world title in Hawaii, while France’s Anne-Sophie Pierre finished ninth.
