Léonie Périault and Igor Dupuis win the inaugural YOTTA XP Menton
Léonie Périault and Igor Dupuis took the first YOTTA XP Menton titles. The Riviera debut was a hit, bringing world-class triathletes and amateur athletes together for a challenge in spectacular surroundings.
The inaugural YOTTA XP Menton, backed by the Alpes-Maritimes Department and held in superb conditions, gave every participant an unforgettable day. Competitors first swam in the Mediterranean’s crystal-clear waters before running along Plage des Sablettes, right in front of the village dominated by Menton’s Basilica of Saint Michael the Archangel.
The M race brought world-class athletes together with amateurs looking to push their limits, each with their own goal. The strongest were racing for the win; for most, it was about completing up to five 400-metre swim and 4-kilometre run loops, with faster times required on every lap. Five chances to enjoy crossing the finish line, all within a few hours.
A razor-sharp finish in the men’s Elite race
In the Elite race, Igor Dupuis, winner of the 2026 edition in Vichy and French individual triathlon champion, and Yanis Seguin, 15th at the most recent World Championships, waited until the final loop to settle the race.
Level with each other as they set off for the final lap, which is run as a pursuit based on the cumulative gaps from the first four loops, the two Frenchmen were finally separated 800 metres from the finish when Dupuis launched a decisive attack.
I loved the format. It’s great fun in some really cool locations. Menton was a fantastic spot for an aquathlon, with a strong field as well. We put on a great battle. I felt good with 800 metres to go and thought that if I was going to do it, now was the time. I’m delighted to finish with the win. The water was perfect, the run course was spot on, and thanks to Menton for the welcome.
In the women’s race, Jeanne Lehair, the world’s seventh-ranked triathlete this season and winner of the 2025 YOTTA XP Vichy, fought a hard battle with Léonie Periault, the 2025 Olympic-distance triathlon world silver medallist.
Starting the fifth lap with a 17-second gain made on the third, Léonie Périault refused to let up and secured her first YOTTA XP victory.
I’m finishing the season in a great atmosphere, in a format I’m not used to, so I’m thrilled with this victory. It was a fantastic experience, even though it got tough towards the end because 20 kilometres of running is still a lot. On the final lap, I tried to protect my lead by going out fast, and Jeanne didn’t come back to me. There’s a strategic element too. It’s the end of the season, we’re tired, and I’m happy to win just one week after taking the French team title with Issy. Now it’s time to get some rest.
The Netherlands’ Barbara de Koning, also a regular on the world circuit, completed a high-class women’s podium.
