IRONMAN unveiled the 2027 calendar for the IRONMAN Pro Series on September 9. The circuit for professional triathletes will take the world’s best to 16 race venues, bringing several new events into the fold alongside a number of iconic fixtures. The performance-based series allows athletes to score points at every race and compete for prize money throughout the season, with the IRONMAN Pro Series title and a share of the $1.7 million end-of-season purse at stake.

The fourth season of the IRONMAN Pro Series will feature 16 races in 2027, including six IRONMAN triathlons and 10 IRONMAN 70.3 events, as well as the IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships. France’s IRONMAN 70.3 Tours Metropole-Loire Valley will join the calendar for the first time.

Seven new destinations will join the series in 2027. The iconic IRONMAN Lanzarote will make its IRONMAN Pro Series debut, alongside five new IRONMAN 70.3 races in France, Germany, Oman, Spain and Sweden. A Canadian event will also return to the series.

Another change will see the men’s and women’s professional fields race on the same weekend at every event. All races in the Experience Oman IRONMAN Pro Series will be broadcast live and free worldwide, including on the IRONMAN Pro Series website, the IRONMAN YouTube channel, and various other platforms around the world.

How does the IRONMAN Pro Series work?

All 2027 IRONMAN Pro Series events are open to eligible professional triathletes, from newcomers starting their careers to the world’s top athletes, including numerous Olympic and world champions.

Professional athletes can choose their own combination of races from the calendar. However, only their five best performances of the season count toward the final standings, with a maximum of three results from IRONMAN events.

At each of the 16 events in the 2027 IRONMAN Pro Series, professionals score points based on their finishing time. Those points count toward the series’ final overall standings. A win earns the maximum score: 5,000 points at an IRONMAN triathlon and 2,500 points at an IRONMAN 70.3. The IRONMAN World Championship winner will earn 6,000 points, while the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship winner will receive 3,000.

In the IRONMAN Pro Series, every second counts. Each second separating the winner from the other competitors translates into a point gained or lost.

Nearly $6 million in prize money across the season

The IRONMAN Pro Series end-of-season purse will total $1.7 million and be shared among athletes ranked from first to 50th. A further $2.5 million in prize money will be awarded directly at the individual events.

The top 10 athletes of each gender in the final series standings will share $1.3 million of the end-of-season purse, with $200,000 going to each male and female winner.

The remaining $400,000 will be distributed among athletes ranked 11th to 50th through a weighted system based on their position in the standings. The aim is to encourage participation throughout the season while providing greater rewards for the highest-ranked professionals.

In addition, nearly 50 events outside the 2027 IRONMAN Pro Series will feature IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 professional races, including opportunities to qualify for the world championships.

More than $2 million in additional prize money will be distributed to professionals, taking the total competition-related prize money available to professional athletes to more than $6 million.
