Triathlon Series 2026: Cabourg to host the final and French Paratriathlon Championships on October 3–4
On October 3 and 4, Cabourg, the elegant seaside resort in Calvados known as “the queen of the Côte Fleurie,” will once again host the Triathlon Series Final, the equivalent of the French Division 1 and Division 2 Club Championships and the highest level of club racing in France, along with the French Paratriathlon Championships. It is one of the highlights of the late-season triathlon calendar in France. Here is the schedule, along with the athletes and teams to watch.
For the past two years, the Ligue de Normandie has hosted a Triathlon Series round in Cabourg, putting the spotlight on Normandy’s clubs and athletes, several of whom compete at the highest levels of national and international triathlon. The best-known of them is Alexis Hanquinquant, a two-time Paralympic champion who added a ninth world title in Pontevedra last week. The event is also part of an effort to introduce and develop paratriathlon in Normandy.
Kristelle Congi (a member of Team Issy Triathlon and a regular on the European Cup circuit with the French triathlon team), Meghan Bazire (fifth at the 2026 Elite Duathlon European Championships), Briac Tencé (European club champion with Issy Triathlon), and the Laurent, Thomas and Martin brothers, who come from Caen, also regularly put their region in the spotlight at national and international level.
Hosting these high-level national competitions in Cabourg is a great source of pride for our city. Triathlon perfectly reflects our ambition to make Cabourg a genuine sporting destination, while highlighting the values of pushing oneself, solidarity, inclusion and sharing. Paratriathlon and triathlon embody these values particularly well, and the amateur and public events give everyone the chance to take part in this great celebration of sport. It is also a wonderful opportunity to showcase our city and strengthen the appeal of our region, both for athletes and visitors.
2026 French Division 1 and Division 2 Club Championship finals
The showcase for elite triathlon in France, the Triathlon Series bring a team dimension to an individual sport throughout the season. At the end of each round in this club-team competition, the team standings are determined by the combined performances of each athlete.
The Triathlon Series will reach their climax in Cabourg on October 3, following the first three rounds in Metz in May, Albi in June and Vichy in July. The Division 1 and Division 2 French Club Championship titles will be awarded after this final round.
Big international names, including athletes from the WTCS, race in the Triathlon Series throughout the season in the colours of their French clubs. They include Frenchmen Dorian Coninx (Poissy Triathlon), Léo Bergère (Les Sables Vendée Triathlon), Hungary’s Csongor Lehmann (Liévin), Britons Max Stapley and Alex Yee (Valence), Portugal’s Ricardo Batista (Valence), Spain’s David Cantero Del Campo (Liévin), and Australia’s Matt Hauser , the 2025 world champion (Liévin).
Dorian Coninx will be in Cabourg, along with Nils Serre-Gehri (Poissy), the recent U23 world champion, Milan Larivière (Poissy Triathlon), the U23 European champion, Jules Rethoret (Sainte Geneviève Triathlon), Tom Richard (Poissy Triathlon), and Yanis Seguin (Valence).
The women’s field is just as strong across the Triathlon Series season, with some of the world’s best lining up at the various rounds. They include Britain’s Jessica Fullagar (Vals du Dauphiné Olympic), Frenchwomen Emma Lombardi (Vals du Dauphiné Olympic), Léa Houart (La Rochelle), Audrey Merle (Issy Triathlon), Luxembourg’s Jeanne Lehair (Poissy Triathlon), American Taylor Spivey and Briton Georgia Taylor Brown, both representing Liévin.
Ilona Hadhoum (Poissy Triathlon) and Léonie Périault (Issy Triathlon) will bring their seasons to a fitting close with an appearance in Cabourg.
The teams leading into the final, Issy Triathlon in D1 women’s and Poissy Triathlon in D1 men’s, will aim to claim the French Club Championship title in Cabourg.
In Division 2, the men of Les Tritons Meldois will try to hold on to their narrow lead in the overall standings ahead of Stade de Reims and ASPTT Mulhouse. In the women’s standings, Saint-Jean-de-Monts lead Stade de Reims, with US Palaiseau in third. The top three D2 clubs will move up to Division 1 next season.

France’s paratriathlon stars set to race in Cabourg
As last year, the French Paratriathlon Championships will make a stop in Cabourg over the weekend. This year, for the first time, a national title will be awarded in the PTS7 category (intellectual and/or psychological impairments). The courses will be the same as those used for the Triathlon Series, as will the race format: a Sprint triathlon (750 m / 20 km / 5 km).
Alongside Alexis Hanquinquant (Rouen Triathlon), who will be eagerly awaited by the Normandy crowd, other athletes who shone in Spain at the recent World Championships will race in Cabourg: Joseph Fritsch (ASPTT Strasbourg) and Louis Noël (Côte d’Opale Triathlon Saint-Omer), third and fourth in the PTWC category, Pierre-Antoine Baele (Villeneuve d’Ascq Triathlon) and Antoine Lamarche Poulain, third and fourth in PTS4, and Cédric Denuzière (AS Handivienne), fifth in PTS3.
Open races for everyone
After rolling out the Matmut 5K events across France, Matmut is now offering everyone the chance to take part in a triathlon: the Matmut Open Triathlon. Two races open to all, the Cabourg Open Tri and the MATMUT Open Triathlon, are on the programme. Both will use the Sprint format: 750 m of swimming, 20 km of cycling and 5 km of running. Accessible distances for all, and an ideal way to take part together at your own pace.
